Official description

Designed for those who treat life as the ultimate adventure, the Seiko Prospex line meets every challenge with technological excellence and style. Part of a rich legacy of innovation in high-intensity timekeeping, Prospex continues to celebrate a long history of sports watch excellence with re-creations and re-interpretations of landmark achievements. Available only in a controlled-production run of 1,965, with the serial number engraved on each caseback, this extraordinary Limited Edition re-creates Seiko’s – and Japan’s -- 1965 first diver’s watch, an automatic timepiece with a then exceptional water resistance of 150 meters. Offering an extraordinarily legible dial and durable enough to become standard equipment for the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE), this landmark watch propelled Seiko into the forefront of dive watch design. Following the original model, down to the look of the limited edition screwdown caseback, this superb re-creation has been updated and streamlined for today, with a smaller 38mm diameter case made possible by the new, thinner, caliber 6L37 movement and a higher quality box-shaped anti-reflective sapphire crystal. With a power reserve of approximately 45 hours, the 26-jewel automatic movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides manual winding capability. The classic dark gray sunray dial includes a date calendar and LumiBrite hands and markers, and is framed by a black uni-directional rotating elapsed timing bezel. Crafted of stainless steel with super-hard coating, this distinctive timepiece also features a black silicone strap, and follows ISO standards for scuba diving to depths of up to 200 meters. Packaged in a special Limited Edition collectors’ box designed as a homage to the 1965 original. 200m Water Resistant
